Una costruzione ottagonale in marmo eretta ad Atene non più tardi del 35 a.C. e ancora in piedi. Le facce laterali sono rivolte verso i punti della bussola di Atene e sorreggono un fregio con raffigurazioni maschili dei venti di quelle direzioni: Borea (N), Kaikias (NE), Apeliote (E), Euro (SE), Noto (S), Lips (SO), Zefiro (O) e Skiron (NO). Queste figure sono riprodotte sulla torre del Radcliffe Observatory ad Oxford, nel Regno Unito e nella Biblioteca del Blue Hill Observatory vicino a Boston, in Massachusetts. La torre non era un osservatorio meteorologico anche se originariamente aveva sul tetto una banderuola segnavento, fu invece costruita per la misurazione del tempo con meridiane sulle pareti e un orologio ad acqua all'interno come riferimento in caso di brutto tempo.
