Company Profile:
ATIS is the leading technical planning and standards development organization committed to the rapid development of global, market-driven standards for the information, entertainment and communications industry.
A transmission control character used to indicate the conclusion of a transmission that may have included one or more texts and any associated message headings. Note: An EOT is often used to initiate other functions, such as releasing circuits, disconnecting terminals, or placing receive terminals in a standby condition.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission control character used to indicate the end of a transmission block of data when data are divided into such blocks for transmission purposes.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission control character used to terminate text.
Industry:Telecommunications
A Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) protocol that dynamically binds a Network-Layer IP address to a Data-Link-Layer physical hardware address, e.g., Ethernet address.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission coupling device for separately sampling (through a known coupling loss) either the forward (incident) or the backward (reflected) wave in a transmission line. Note: A directional coupler may be used to sample either a forward or backward wave in a transmission line. A unidirectional coupler has available terminals or connections for sampling only one direction of transmission; a bidirectional coupler has available terminals for sampling both directions. Synonyms splitter, T-coupler, tee coupler.

Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission facility derived with repeating coils from two or more pairs of wires. Synonyms phantom circuit, phantom pair. Note: The name "phantom" is derived from the fact that balanced, center-tapped transformers, called "repeat (ing) " coils in telephone parlance, can be used, e.g., in conjunction with two twisted pairs, to create a third, electrically isolated transmission path ("phantom pair") by splitting the latter's electrical signal between the two twisted pairs (called "side circuits") in such a fashion as to cancel inductive interference from the phantom circuit to the side circuits, and vice versa.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission facility that consists of a signaling data link and its transfer control functions, used for reliable transfer of a signaling message.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission facility that provides several telecommunication channels over a single bidirectional path. A carrier facility system generally consists of multiplex equipment at two terminal locations and an interconnecting path consisting of: (a) a higher level facility system; (b) a facility assembly, or (c) combinations of carrier facility systems and facility assemblies.
Industry:Telecommunications
A transmission frequency that is not to be jammed or interfered with because of the value of the information being derived from it. Note: For example, a guarded frequency will not be jammed when the tactical, strategic, and technical information that can be obtained from the transmissions outweighs the potential operational gain achieved by jamming.
