Industry:Telecommunications
An electronic, self-contained unit which is capable of storing at least one key and transferring that key, upon request, into cryptographic modules.
Industry:Telecommunications
An electronic-mail conference capability using data terminals. Note: Control can be maintained by the user or by the network.
Industry:Telecommunications
An electro-optic device in which birefringence is modified under the influence of an applied voltage. Note: A Pockels cell may be used as an intensity modulator at optical wavelengths.
Industry:Telecommunications

An elliptically or circularly polarized wave, in which the electric field vector, observed in any fixed plane, normal to the direction of propagation, whilst looking in the direction of propagation, rotates with time in a right-hand or clockwise direction. Synonym clockwise polarized wave.
Industry:Telecommunications
An elliptically or circularly polarized wave, in which the electric field vector, observed in the fixed plane, normal to the direction of propagation, whilst looking in the direction of propagation, rotates with time in a left-hand or anticlockwise direction.
Industry:Telecommunications
An enclosure housing telecommunications electronics equipment. It may consist of a weatherproof enclosure, equipment pad or an equipment hut. Types of equipment contained in an EEE might be switches, carrier electronics, or remote terminals. The EEE may be located remote from a central office, and may be located above or below ground. The temperature and humidity within the EEE may be controlled. The EEE, like the central office, is served by telecommunications outside plant cable, which may be aerial, direct-buried, or placed in underground conduit. It may also be served by commercial ac power facilities, and may have provisions for standby power.
