Michael Phelps

Olympic swimmmer (b. U.S.A. 1985).The most medalled Olympic athlete of all times. His first Olympic appearance was at the 2000 Sydney Games at the tender age of 15, making him the youngest athlete selected for the US swim team in 70 years.In 2001 he became the youngest male swimmer to break a world record setting the precedent for a glittering career with an astonishing medal haul that to this date reaches 22 overall, 18 of which are gold. Unsurprisingly Phelps has earnt the nickname 'The Flying Fish' and is a global brand in his own right.In 2008 he even set up his own independent charitable foundation to promote the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle for children. His performance at the London 2012 Games heralded his last competitive appearance before retirement.
