Compensation paid above fixed compensation as an incentive for an employee to meet certain goals or objectives on behalf of the company. This compensation includes incentives such as annual bonuses, stock options, stock grants, long-term cash incentives, and recognition awards. Employees can participate in more than one variable compensation plan.
